I never thought I’d commit to 28 days of raw fruits and vegetables. Anyone that knows me knows I am in love with food– We are in a healthy, prosperous relationship. It is the only true love I have ever known. Haha, I’m joking, but food is one of the ways to my soul. It’s always been that way since I was a little girl.
[su_spacer]
Just ask my family; they’ll tell you the stories lol.
Why RAW?
[su_spacer size=”40″]
I pretty much considered myself a pretty healthy individual. I ate cooked vegetables, stayed away from pork, beef, and chicken, drank herbal teas, etc. But the truth of the matter is there was another dimension I hadn’t tapped into. And that was juicing and filling myself with RAW nutritious fruits and vegetables to give my body the nutrients and minerals it needed to thrive at its optimum level. I am pretty connected to my body + intuition, it tells me when it is time to let certain foods or things that don’t serve me. It told me when to let go of meat and dairy. So, doing this cleanse felt right, spiritually.
[su_spacer]
I didn’t think I’d ever consider a raw vegan journey until I discovered Medical Medium, whose real name is Anthony Williams. Anthony has a simplistic healing protocol– fruits and vegetables. This simple approach has transformed the lives of many people. He is equipped with a spirit that uses him to spread viable and life-changing information on how foods can reverse degenerative diseases and many other things plaguing the human body. Five minutes of scrolling through his Instagram– reading testimonials and seeing the proof and I was convinced this was something I NEEDED to partake in.
[su_spacer]
I learned that I could begin to reboot my body by committing to 28 Days of RAW fruit and vegetables. No nuts, seeds, or oils. Fresh Vegetables and that’s it! As intimidating as it seemed I was excited to take on the challenge to heal my body.

Liver Health
[su_spacer]
The goal of this diet was to heal my body, especially the liver. The liver is such an important organ. When the liver is sluggish or backed up it leads the way for a whole host of other things to happen.
[su_spacer]
[su_quote]”general health complaints to digestive issues to emotional struggles to weight gain to high blood pressure to heart problems to brain fog to skin conditions to autoimmune and other chronic illnesses—has an origin in an overloaded liver and can improve when you harness the force of this humble organ.” – Medical Medium [/su_quote]
[su_spacer]
Some of the Key roles the liver is responsible for:
-
Breaking down fats to help with digestion
-
helping your pancreas store things away
-
Processing out toxins and neutralizing them
-
screening and filtering your blood
all of these tasks aren’t easy. Your liver is working harder than you ever will all in the name of saving you and keeping you alive.
[su_spacer]
With the level of today’s toxic chemicals in everything from skin care, air fresheners, and foods our liver is being overburdened.
[su_spacer]
Anyone can benefit from some liver cleansing. Don’t think your liver needs to be cleaned? Think again.

The Cleanse
[su_spacer]
Surprisingly, the first week was a bit more challenging than I had anticipated. I had just completed a 5-day fruit cleanse. So I thought it would’ve been a breeze. When that weekend approached. I vividly remember waking up and feeling so angry; I was bored with just eating fruit and vegetables felt so limiting. I couldn’t understand how some people could commit and live their life being a RAW vegan when they were missing out on so many other great foods. I spent at least 15 minutes feeding into these negative emotions until I remembered my WHY and my MISSION.
[su_spacer]
( If you decide to do this cleanse, please research so you can understand your mission. Because there will be times you’ll ask yourself, why in the hell am i putting myself through this?!)
[su_spacer]
While that weekend was one of the most challenging weeks I experienced during the cleanse. It got easier from that point on. The invigorating smell of food from restaurants no longer bothered me as i strolled past I grew stronger mentally and felt good about the cleanse.
My daily food consisted of:
[su_spacer]
Morning
-
16 oz of warm water with a squeezed lemon
-
3-4 cucumbers juiced or one stalk of Celery juiced to hydrate my body on a cellular level.
-
A banana smoothie bowl (usually with maca, kelp, berries, or other mixed fruits)

Lunch
[su_spacer]
For work, I’d take three bowls of fruit in a container. This included:
-
a Large sliced pear,
-
2 peeled oranges
-
one or two melons
-
2 kiwis
-
a medium sized salad
* the variation didn’t change too much apart from different fruit; I ate everything from Red Grapes, Oriental Melons, Blueberries, Mangoes, and Grapefruit)
Dinner
[su_spacer]
-
A freshly made juice with 2 large red apples, ginger, and burdock root
-
Lettuce wraps or nori rolls or a salad with avocado, tomatoes, garlic, onion, and
-
A banana nice cream smoothie bowl topped with Dates

During the first few weeks, I was bloated at times and my digestion was quite sluggish. Which is all to be expected. My body was detoxing all gunk out of my system. Some peoples detox symptoms are more extreme than others. For the most part, I just experienced lots of bloating and bad digestion.
[su_spacer]
During the third week, I cut out avocados to enhance the liver detox effect. Also, it was around this time I started adding in stemmed sweet potatoes for dinner when I felt like my body needed it. According to medical medium, you can add in a sweet potato if your detox symptoms are too much.

Benefits & Realizations of Cleanse
[su_spacer]
The cleanse made me realize that I tend to impulsively buy and eat food just because it’s there. When you do any kind of detox you will notice most of our eating is out of habit and not because you’re actually hungry. Fruit is highly filling. I actually felt more full eating tons of fruits and veggies than I did eating my usual; meals. That’s because fruits have actual minerals and vitamins in them compared to a cheeseburger or rice dish. These vitamins actually satiate you more while healing you.
[su_spacer]
Benefits I noticed:
[su_spacer]
-
Eyelash growth
- My eyelashes are longer
-
Stronger nails
- My nails are the strongest and longest they have ever been
-
Great digestion
- I am more regular than I have ever been (I’ll spare the deets)
-
Hydrated body + Skin
- I actually didn’t realize how dehydrated my body was until this cleanse. My lips are no longer dry like they once were and the feeling of thirstiness went away ( Even after drinking water I would still never feel hydrated until this cleanse).
-
Improved skin
- My skin tone became more even and hydrated throughout this cleanse. I’m really excited for when I am able to consume the amount of fruit i’d like when I get back to the USA. To see more improvement in this area
-
Loads of energy
- I felt very energized and didn’t get my usual sluggish feeling around 5 pm.
-
Weight Loss
- My goal wasn’t weight loss. So, I didn’t weigh myself before the cleanse but my clothes definitely don’t feel the same. I reckon i lost between 8-10 pounds. But I did lose 3 1/2 inches from around my waistline! (Woohoo!)

[su_pullquote]Healing is not an easy journey– it’s one of abundance. the body is never against you but is working to help heal you and help you thrive.[/su_pullquote]
[su_spacer]
Truth is, our bodies are like ongoing machines working for us night and day. Kicking out invaders. As humans, we tend to indulge in foods that satisfy our cravings and emotions but very rarely do we actually feed our bodies to satisfy us on a cellular level.
[su_spacer]
Consequently, our bodies (the machine) starts to malfunction and starts showing symptoms of a bigger problem after being neglected, mistreated, and misunderstood. But the light in all of that is that your body is a self-healing machine. It can heal and it wants to heal. Your body isn’t against you it’s For you. Your body can turn around from travesty and diseases burdening your body.
[su_spacer]
I love this body I have and I want to make the most of it while I got it. It took a lot of discipline and willpower to get through 28 days of eating only Raw fruits + Veggies, but it is something I’m so happy I did. Of course, my body isn’t healed in 28 days this is only the start of the journey.
Current Eating Habits
Now that my 28 day cleanse has ended I’ll admit I’m not eating the way I want to, due to my location at the moment. I make sure to start my day with fruit and I still drink fresh juice daily usually it’s apple/ginger. But once I’m back home I’ll be consuming celery juice every morning. I’m mostly eating soups and rice dishes. I haven’t eaten seafood as much as I normally do since the class. because well, after 28 days your taste buds change. If i don’t have fruit daily my body immediately feels off.
[su_spacer]
I will be doing another 28 day cleanse in the future; I experienced quite a few setbacks because i didn’t have access to certain foods+ gadgets due to my location. So I’d like to do another cleanse in the near future and would be happy if some of you all joined me.

Comment below if you’d like to try this cleanse. If you have, what benefits did you notice?
Okay, so I just started doing this a couple of days ago! Kind of…I’m really scared to lose weight so I do eat beans for dinner and I did add walnuts in my salad. But reading your article has given me more food options that I would like to try!
I do have a personal question though, if I may….since I’ve started doing this my stool looks different. I’m just trying to see if this is a normal thing???
