Epidermal pigmentation is mostly brown and fades out in several months. Usually with lighteners like Kojic, hydroquinone, Mandelic, lactic etc. Dermal pigmentation has a grey‐brown colour and is generally permanent for years.⁣

Dermal pigment is much harder to remove than epidermal pigment. If you have spots that don’t respond to topical brightening; chances are it’s dermal. Dermal pigmentation is resistant to topical brighteners because those ingredients don’t usually reach the dermis. ⁣

Lasers is something to consider to remove dermal pigment because they can penetrate to the dermis. Also, look at medication like birth control etc as it may be causing pigment to reside in the dermis. Dermal pigmentation most times need to be targeted From an inside outside approach. In short, no.⁣

Buttne most often first starts off as acne mechanica, which presents as red, flesh colored bumps. ⁣
⁣
What causes it? ⁣
⁣
Think friction, heat, and pressure constantly aggravating the skin. An example would be, maskne from wearing masks all day! The friction of tightly fitted clothing can cause acne mechanica, which if constantly aggravated can lead to other forms of acne ⁣
like pustules and boils (ouch!) ⁣
⁣
Few tips for reducing body breakouts:⁣
⁣
* Wear loose clothing whenever possible. Tight clothing, especially when combined with sweat, can cause skin irritation and folliculitis ⁣
* Use a cleanser that contains benzoyl, mandelic, and or salicylic acid. ⁣
* Use a serum and or body lotion with retinol and/or lactic acid ( great for KP) ⁣
* Do not try to pop them on your own as you risk scarring your skin⁣
